I'm Gemma Bermudo, a photographer and editorial designer based in Barcelona. I come from a background in graphic design, where I've worked mostly in editorial and visual communication. Photography, however, has always run alongside — first as an intuitive personal practice, and more recently through formal training in portrait, landscape and photobook, as I've moved towards a more conscious and focused practice.
My work explores documentary and landscape photography, and especially the photobook — the way a sequence of images can build a story. It revolves around landscape as a space for contemplation and the way observing nature becomes, in turn, a way of looking inward. “Aigua” is my first photobook.
